Senior Research Assistant

May 2018 • Glendale, AZ

What I liked

Working in research is a great opportunity if you want to pursue a masters degree! This job has let me work with a fantastic faculty member and gain invaluable experience in management, research techniques, problem solving and working both with large teams and individual tasks.

What I wish was different

Advice

Research isn't for everyone, especially human participant data. If you are thinking of continuing your education post grad, I would HIGHLY recommend working in research (human part. or not) first to make sure it's what you want to do; it's basically what your masters will be! Also, take your research experience with a grain of salt- each lab and research experience is different, so if there are a few things you don't like that might be just fine. Once you're working on your own research you're passionate about, a lot of those little things won't be issues anymore!

Environmental Health and Safety Program Aide

What I liked

The ability for remote work is flexible and great in situations like these. It was mainly data entry and inventorying for chemicals but my managers did a great job in guiding me.

Perhaps the variety of work could have been better. I'm not a big fan of sticking to the computer doing excel sheets for a 9-5 but the situation at hand permits it.
