What I liked

I loved working with students and being a part of their learning experience, the families are amazing and I love connecting with all of them.

What I wish was different

I wish that the management there was different. I was promised a lot of things in writing regarding my hours and then I ended up having to quit because they could not offer me those hours but I had already moved out here and then I was left unable to afford to live there. It was quite unfair and later I found out it was illegal. I also did not get my employee handbook until a year of working there it would have been helpful to avoid certain things if I had it earlier.

Advice

My advice to others would be that make sure when you work for a school or any where really you check if they have employee laws posted and all legal requirements as well as be more assertive than I was when it comes to salary and hours, do not let people step on you because you are young and don’t put up with employers that treat you poorly.
