What I liked

I worked with great people and learned about presenting myself to people. I learned how to make a deal, negotiate, and solidify to increase our long term customer base.

What I wish was different

That I had more facts before entering into the job but it is really a job that you learn from experience in and nothing can really prepare you for it.

Advice

If you want to go into any kind of sales, practice, practice, practice with someone who knows the trade and is honest enough to help you improve.

What I liked

I liked that it provided the opportunity for financial freedom. I'm a really social person and I really liked that I got to talk to people of all walks of life. I liked the excercise that it gave me. I liked working on a team. I liked that I was in charge of how many hrs I wanted to work.

What I wish was different

I wish people weren't so mean. But it's all part of the job

Advice

This job is not for the faint of heart! You don't have to be a good salesman to be successful! It's all about finding a company that will give you a good commission, rent bonus, and upfront money. Don't settle for a commission that is any less than 40%. They will give you anything do let them hassle you over. They make tons of money off their reps so don't worry about it. Overall a good positive manager who is willing to drop anything to help you out is everything.

Pest Control Worker

What I liked

The managanent there was very nice and really seemed ro care about me as an employee.

What I wish was different

I wish I would've have had some more time off. But in the end that's the reason why I got the summer job, was to work.

Advice

Make sure you are very clear when you get hired on which day you will be finishing work. Let them know far in advance.

Pest Control Sales

What I liked

It was a great way to make a lot of money in a short amount of time. As well as, I was able to hone in on my soft skills and really learn how to work with others. The skills of selling are used in all jobs so I was glad to be able to learn from some very skilled individuals on sells techniques.

What I wish was different

Nothing really.

Advice

I found summer sales to be a different experience than most peoples preconceived notions about it. There are a lot of naysayers to sales for some reason, but as long as you are willing to work hard it really pays off financially.
