Apex Tool Group

Quality Engineer Intern

May - August 2022 • Dayton, OH

What I liked

I was treated like a normal salary employee. The environment was very professional and everyone was always able to help you when you needed it. It was my first job in a manufacturing environment and I learned a lot.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have started earlier in the spring part time and then went full time in the summer.

Advice

Be proactive as an intern here and be able to work on multiple projects at a time. Don't be afraid to ask questions and explore the floor to learn the manufacturing processes.

Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Lexington, SC

What I liked

It was project based and I was able to participate in other areas of marketing to do with a product pitch, product marketing, and channel marketing.

What I wish was different

Making it project based narrows in on one major thing to do over the summer, so it could drag on during slow times.

Advice

Take advantage of the knowledge around you! The people have incredible knowledge and experience and want to teach you.

Finance intern

May - August 2018 • Sparks, MD

What I liked

I loved how much they encouraged me to learn and how easy it was to get opportunities with managers in different roles.

What I wish was different

I wish I had learned more about some of the systems than I did.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask for more work or ask about the business. It will always help you to be eager to learn.

Finance Intern

May - August 2018 • Apex, NC

What I liked

The ability to travel, network, and shadow a different department.

What I wish was different

I wish the necessities of my project were well thought and planned. I did not get a chance to start my project until about 3 weeks in because I did not have the training in SAP BW and Tableau was given 2 weeks before my departure.

Advice

Ask questions.

R&D Intern

May - August 2018 • Lexington, SC

What I liked

Great people and super fun environment. I was able to collaborate with a large variety of people including engineers, lab techs, machinist, and so many other people. Apex Tool Group does a great job making sure interns are treated as full-time employees and has many events to allow for acclimation into the company such as baseball games, community service projects, socials, and so much more. Overall, I highly reccomend!

What I wish was different

The entire location is currently under renovation so sometimes things, or peoples office will move adding to the learning curve.

Advice

Be ready to learn. From day 1 you will be researching or learning about the company. Make sure you talk to people and learn as much as you can, and always ask questions!
