AOL

Account Management Intern

June 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

It was really cool to work for such a big name company. AOL does so much, especially now that they've merged with Yahoo, so it was interesting to see all parts of the company come together in one building. I was able to visit the HuffPost floor and talk to journalists, visit the software development floor and talk to people on the product side, and visit the Build studio to watch live recordings of interviews. There was a lot going on, which made it very exciting!

What I wish was different

The work that I did was not particularly high level, and as an intern I was not allowed to spearhead any accounts.

Advice

Definitely don't be afraid to speak up if you want more work! There are always people to give more work, but they are not thinking about you all of the time, so it might slip their minds!

Business Development Intern

May 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The culture of the company, I had an amazing team that trained and supported me, and some of the projects I worked on gave me a great feeling of responsibility.

What I wish was different

The interaction between interns. There was almost no programs or events over the summer for all of the interns to socilzr and meet each other and AOL employees.

Advice

Project management is so important. It's an incredibly fast-paced enviornment and you need to stay organized and not be afraid to ask questions otherwise you won't last.
