Flexibility is key. As an intern, I didn't have a super well-defined single role, and instead I just sort of bounced from task to task. When I showed up at work in the morning, I didn't always know whether my day would be dominated by writing a proposal, crunching numbers for an estimate, or developing a database to manage costs. I had to learn to be adaptable to whatever was thrown my way. If you can maintain a state of mind where you accept that workflow is fluid and ever-changing, and if you can learn not to be too jarred when that workflow suddenly whips in another direction, your experience will be more productive, more educational, and most importantly, more enjoyable.
