Product Engineer Intern

June - August 2018 • Wilmington, MA

What I liked

I liked working in the lab doing hands-on experiments, interacting with people in other departments, going to weekly technical meetings to learn more about different topics, and having my own project to work on.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more one-on-one time with my manager.

Advice

My advice would be that when you do run into a tough problem, try out/think of a couple possible solutions to it before you approach your manager and don't just show up empty handed - take initiative with your work and do more than what's expected.

Applications Engineer Intern

June - September 2019 • Santa Clara, CA

What I liked

The whole experience was great! This was my first internship in the tech industry and I learned a lot at ADI. This is definitely the industry I want to be part of. Working in the Product Evaluation team was awesome. I loved working with my mentor Minh Pham and Yaogy Xu over the summer. The dynamic of the team was very fluid and I was able to get any question answered almost immediately. There was really good communication among the team. The projects I worked in were challenging but rewarding. I learned a lot about DAQs and improve a lot my knowledge on embedded systems and communication protocols as well as hand on experience with instruments and tools. Great balance between lab work (building and assembling) and desk work (circuit design and programming). I also liked the community of interns at the company. I can say I made really good friends over the summer at ADI as well. Overall, really positive experience.

What I wish was different

Commute was the worst part of the day, specially going back home from work. I wish I had a shorter commute. Spending more than 10 hours in the road per week is not fun.

Advice

Don't feel afraid to use as many resources as the company has to offer. This includes software and hardware resources. Almost every tech company has an IT department that can help. If I knew earlier and didn't shy out, I would've found all the software resources they exist and that I ended up using much earlier.

Business Unit Finance Intern

June - September 2019 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

presented to the CFO and VPs, learn a lot about the semiconductor industry, people are very friendly and the company has a great culture

What I wish was different

My manager gave me a difficult problem to solve for my project that was something very similar that the data analytics team was already working on. but these people have PHDs in math so I obviously wasn't able to compete so my project didn't provide much value.

Advice

Finance Intern

June - September 2017 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

I was on the manufacturing finance team, and I loved the group. Everyone was very hardworking, and there was an emphasis on collaboration to get things done. The head of the group is an SCU Alum, so I had a good relationship with her to begin with. Everyone in the group was invested in my success, especially my intern presentations I was to do at the end of my internship. I learned a ton, and got a job offer to work on their team full time, which I am doing now.

What I wish was different

Nothing, really. Every aspect of the internship was awesome and well done.

Advice

Always look to do more and help the group. If you stall on a project, ask questions. Communication and social skills are key when it comes to success as an intern.
