I loved working with the children. It was fun learning myself all of the ins and outs of gymnastics and being able to put my knowledge to use by teaching the children. For our preschool classes, we had different themes every week. I helped set up those themes and design the Pre-K area accordingly.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more training in the area. Because I work with the company already, i was kind of thrown into the area with only 2 or 3 training days. I felt satisfied, but with more training I believe i would’ve been able to provide the students with a more fun and diverse gymnastics class.
Advice
I would say to truly have fun. Working with kids can be stressful and with this job may feel a tad bit like a babysitting one, but you create bonds and friendships with these little ones. Them running up to you in the gym because they remember how you played hula hoop with them or taught them how to cartwheel is such a gratifying feeling. Always put a smile on your face. Not only will it affect the students experiences, but have an effect on yours as well.
