Laser/denester

May - August 2021 • Kiel, WI

What I liked

The people were great to work with and always willing to help with questions you have.

What I wish was different

Sometimes there were meetings held about different processes and approaches to take about doing the job better and I wasn't included all the times since I was not a full time employee but summer help.

Advice

Always ask questions and voice your thoughts if you have them it might be beneficial to workers around.

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

June 2018 • Kiel, WI

What I liked

I enjoyed the diverse projects and the unique opportunity for hands-on learning and professional growth. I was brought into new productions builds and had the chance to design fixtures for the assembly of a new commercial walk-behind mower and a hydraulic snow blower. There were many valuable opportunities to assist in the production of contract manufacturing OEM agricultural and industrial hydraulically operated accessories and systems. I learned so much on this job and had the chance to work with a wide variety of amazing people. This internship helped confirm my goals of working full time in the Industrial/Manufacturing fields after graduation.

Advice

Realize all of the great opportunities that UW-Platteville has to offer their students. Going to the career fair if you want a job is a really good first step, especially for STEM majors. I know the career fair isn't as helpful throughout all studies on campus but through some of the services supplied, you can look up employers and see what types of positions they are looking to fill. Researching what kind of candidates they like to see will not only help you decide if its a career you'd like to pursue, but coming in with some background knowledge to the fair and even an interview will really impress a future employer.
