Amcor, Inc.

Summer Help

June - August 2019 • New London, WI

What I liked

I loved the community and how the job was not just a job but making connections with individuals. I was also taught time management, problem solving, and being able to ask if I needed help.

What I wish was different

I wish that the company did not favor certain people given that some summer help were fired when they would do three times the work that another summer help employee did not do but the second slower employee did not get fired.

Advice

The job does have first second and third shifts and for summer help you get put where they need you so if you are not ready to work nights and figure out new timing for sleeping and eating it is not for you.

Benefits Analyst Intern

February 2019 • Oshkosh, WI

What I liked

My responsibilities clearly mirrored that of a full time employee and was great real world experience. Amcor has given me so much cross-functional experience which is very helpful as I consider post-graduation plans.

What I wish was different

Advice

I never expected to enjoy a role in Benefits because I thought it was too numbers driven; however, I ended up loving it for its strategic nature and variety. Dont write something off until you give it a chance!

Commercial Sales Intern

May 2019 • Ann Arbor, MI

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to work with a variety of different cross functional teams so I could get exposure to different sides of the business. I also enjoyed being able to visit customers and observe interactions between sales and the customer.

What I wish was different

I wish I got to see some of the sales prospects go completely through, because I ended the internship giving a sheet of prospects to our VP of Sales but I do not know if we gained any new business from it.

Advice

Dive into what you are doing, ask questions, and offer insight whenever. The more engaged you are, the better you look, the more likely your boss will assist in helping you with your future career.

March 2019 • Oshkosh, WI

What I liked

Amcor has an excellent staff. Everyone is willing to help you succeed and learn in your role. There are plenty of events for you to network and make friends with other interns.

What I wish was different

Advice

Don't be afraid to take on new/ side projects. If you have any interest in another role take a few hours to shadow that role and see if it's something you'd be a good fit for.

Summer Help Finishing Dept.

May 2018 - August 2019 • New London, WI

What I liked

The pay, the opportunity to work overtime and make a lot of money, and Monday-Friday work week.

What I wish was different

The whole culture is very toxic. Temperatures get ungodly high (upwards of 110). You don’t find out what shift you’ll be on the next week until the Thursday before.

Advice

Do not do this job as a woman. As a man, work hard and be friendly, but don’t make friends, everyone loves drama.

Internal IT Audit Intern

June 2019 • Oshkosh, WI

What I liked

The team I am on was very welcoming and open to any questions I had.

What I wish was different

When I started there wasn't a lot for me to work on but this was because the acquisition was just finalized and the internal audit team had to adjust their schedules to incorporate the Legacy Amcor applications.

Advice

Always be open to feedback on your work. You can't improve unless know know what you are doing wrong or could be doing better. Feedback isn't criticism, its a way to grow in your work.
