I enjoyed verifying the accuracy of financial statements and becoming more familiar with Excel, Adobe, Geneva, and other types of software and websites.
What I wish was different
I wish Strata had more things for me to do; there were times where I was told to sign off early if there were no tasks remaining. I was not paid for downtime.
Advice
I recommend taking an Excel class before doing this internship.

Great environment and team!!
What I wish was different
I wish I had lived closer to Salt Lake so that I didn’t have to commute.

Fund Analyst Intern
May - August 2019 • Ogden, UT
What I liked
Love the environment. Everyone is friendly and willing to help you learn.
What I wish was different
Better training. Fund accounting isn’t taught in schools, and with the company being newer, it doesn’t have a good training program. Only learned through watching other coworkers, so it took a while to learn what we are actually doing.
Advice
Do it. The pros outweigh the very few cons.

Fund Accountant

What I liked
I love the company culture of Strata—it is unlike any other accounting firm I have interacted with.
What I wish was different
Strata is growing extremely quickly, so for a portion of the summer I was unable to sit near my team.
Advice
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Don’t feel like you need to know everything when you are just getting started.
