Field Operations Intern
May - August 2018 • Portland, OR
What I liked
In this position, I was able to choose the areas of non-profit work I wanted to focus on. This allowed me the ability to get the most out of the experience that I wanted and made me feel like I was working on actual useful and important projects. I got to become a real part of the St. Jude community and felt like every day I was getting to contribute my best to St. Jude's lifesaving mission.
What I wish was different
The only thing I wished was different was to have another intern with me. I was the only intern in my office which gave me a lot of opportunities and was great, but it also would have been fun to work alongside other college students.
Advice
Get the most of your internship experience as you can! Ask if you can go to events, constantly ask for new projects, and take some extra time to get to know the people who work there. Your internship can be a good experience if you just do what you're told, but really going the extra mile and throwing yourself fully into the company and the office will make your experience amazing and so beneficial for you professionally.

Strategic Partnerships Intern
May - July 2018 • Memphis, TN
What I liked
I enjoyed the work environment because everyone was set on achieving the mission of St.Jude. The employees there are true believers of teamwork which makes the environment warm and family oriented. The CEO Mr.Shadyac had a genuine love for St. Jude, its employees, and the patients at the hospital. He was very open and always excited to talk to the interns. He held talks for us about diversity and really gave us an opportunity to connect with one another.
What I wish was different
I wish that there would have been housing available.
Advice
Talk to everyone that you can. The people there want to see you succeed! Don't limit yourself to just talking to people in your department. They are really good about helping you explore your strengths and interests.
