Allied Global Marketing

Press, Advertising and Marketing Intern

August - December 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Allied Global Marketing: Allied Touring, is a wonderful place to intern because each team member genuinely wants to help you learn and succeed. If you are into Broadway and managing press, advertising and marketing related to Off-Broadway national tours this is the place for you. It is an awesome atmosphere full of amazing people.

What I wish was different

I wish it was paid because you do quite a bit of work. However, you do get free merchandise from national tours almost every week.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions, schedule one on ones with the "higher-ups" and be genuine.

Public Relations Intern

September - November 2019 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

This internship was a great on site experience. My responsibilities ranged from searching for media breaks to attending a movie screening at the Fox studios lot.

What I wish was different

I got to sit and participate in brainstorm sessions where really fun and creative ideas were discussed. I would have loved to see these ideas come to life, unfortunately planning can take a long time.

Advice

Ask a lot of questions and be prepared to be flexible.

Film Marketing Intern

June - August 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I loved talking about movies all day long! I liked the structure of the position itself- each team is responsible for a few different studios, and there are different directives for each movie. I loved going to free screenings, and getting some nice #swag, and the people were amazing!

What I wish was different

I wish I had a bit more direct mentorship, but when I reached out for it, it was there. At times the internship program felt kind of thrown together. Also, a lot of what I was doing was online research, finding people on social media, sending emails. I felt somewhat disconnected.

Advice

Show interest! I was working over the summer as well, so I didn't have time to do much of the activities outside of my work hours, but if you are interested in staying involved, volunteer for screenings! Volunteer to help other teams!

Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Cambridge, MA

What I liked

I loved the people I worked with and the opportunity to work on events out of the office.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a little more work to do on a day to day basis. With a lot of interns some days there was not always much to do.

Advice

Offer to help with different events and types of things around the office so they get to know you and you get to experience different thing.

Marketing Intern

May - August 2018 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

I loved that I got to work in entertainment public relations. It's difficult to find entertainment internships in the area but this position was all that I wanted and more.

What I wish was different

As with any internship, some are not paid. This opportunity was not paid but it was part time so I was able to hold another job.

Advice

Don't take anything for granted! This is an amazing opportunity to work with the top film studios. Don't let that fact that it's unpaid turn you away.

Fox Searchlight Studios Campus Ambassador

May 2017 • Scottsdale, AZ

What I liked

The office is super cool, it is not a typical conservative atmosphere. Your movie projects are pretty fun, you get to plan marketing events for certain films to get the word out about films. You also get to help with planning screenings for the public to see for free.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more of a an organized internship process.

Advice

This internship requires creativity so try to always think outside the box.

Publicity & Promotions Intern

December 2016 - April 2017 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Lots of autonomy in your position, you have ownership of a lot of work. Directly assigned to a team at Allied, so it's clear what clients you work on. Films worked on change quickly so there usually isn't a shortage of projects. Can be assigned additional projects based on proficiency.

What I wish was different

Work can sometimes get redundant, but asking for new projects or volunteering for something new.

Advice

Connect with as many people there as you can. You'll learn different things from your assigned team than you do from other staff. They're all really eager to hear from you and help you grow.
