Student Technician

February 2019 • Reading, PA

What I liked

I really like the people I work with at Client Services (both full-time and other student technicians) and the flexible work schedule. I have learned a lot about fundamental skills in technology while employed here!

What I wish was different

I wish that some employees of the department would be more susceptible to the situations and tasks that other technicians have at hand.

Advice

Keep an open mind. You may not be able to figure out a task on the first try or at all; it happens to everyone and it's okay to make mistakes. You will pick up more skills as you go along.

Manager

November 2018 • Reading, PA

What I liked

I like that I can pick and choose which tasks are priority. I interact with students, faculty, and outside organizations on a daily basis. Also, I am able to make connections with people I would have never met otherwise.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to put in more hours over the summer. I was restricted to only working 4 hours a week during the summer when I feel that I could have used more time.

Advice

Be outgoing! It takes a lot to interact with so many different people, but it is so worth it.

Camps and Conferences Assistant

June - July 2018 • Reading, PA

What I liked

It's a really great job! It includes room and board and you get a lot of hours. Lois is an awesome boss and we had a really good team.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't want this to be different, but be aware, people get worn out over the course of the summer so everyone is exhausted by the last camp, but we all still have fun together. You are also on call a lot and have to work night shifts, so it is definitely a lot of work.

Advice

It is very competitive some years, so be very careful with your application. Dress nice for your interview even if you feel like you don't have to and make yourself standout. We are looking for good team members!
