All of the people there were amazing. They helped me become more confident in my field of interest and assured me that they are there to help me in anyway. I was able to attend lectures on topics that may not be covered in medical school like cultural competency and implicit bias. I was also able to shadow an OBGYN and a pediatric GI which allowed me to explore more fields in medicine.
What I wish was different
nothing
Advice
It is a lot of work. It is only 6 weeks and at the end you have to present a literature review. I took classes in addition to this internship and I had a hard time juggling but yes, it is a lot of work so be prepared for that.

Summer Undergraduate Research Program intern
May - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
It was a great opportunity to conduct research in a medical setting where the findings have implications to change how we treat colitis and intestinal cancers.
What I wish was different
Due to the constraints of the program it only lasted eight weeks, which wasn't much time to get significant data for my project.
Advice
It's really great for gaining experience in a variety of medical research labs, since the program can place students by their interest.

Advice
I would suggest for students to look far and wide for opportunities over the summer. There are many to be found, but you have to put in work to find one that is fulfilling and in line with what you want to do!

Summer Undergraduate Researcher
June - July 2019 • New York City, NY
What I liked
I enjoyed being able to participate in cutting edge research in medicine at a top-tier institution. On a daily basis, I was interacting with graduate students and professors that provided advice, criticism, and knowledge. Given the nature of the research school, I had access to instrumentation that I only dreamed at Trinity. Part of my experience was to have an active role in mice surgery, which provided an entire skill set in of itself.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could have found out about such programming through Trinity. I did a lot of searching by myself to find this program. Holistically, I feel that Trinity's promotion of scientific research or job opportunities is lacking and some additional input from the school would have made my life easier in finding this opportunity.
Advice
Any opportunity given should be made the most of. Of course, this experience was all I could have wished for, but the important part of participating in this program was that I tried to learn as much as possible from it.
