My summer at Advent was an insightful and engaging experience. The down-to-earth, team-focused culture provided a great environment to learn the basics of the private equity industry. From hands-on work under an associate mentor to informal coffee chats with partners, this internship struck the right balance between challenging and fun.

Reach out to your co-workers! Everyone at the firm is very open and friendly, and I learned a ton from every person I met.

What I liked

Advent International's sophomore summer internship is the perfect opportunity to learn more about private equity and business/finance in general. I learned a ton about how to value a company, how to complete due diligence, what makes a successful business, the specific industry I was in, and much more. But the best part is definitely the firm -- Advent has an amazing culture and all the people are amazing. Everyone was always willing to help me and answer any questions I had, but not to the extent where I didn't feel challenged or independent. Overall, I loved my experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in private equity!

What I wish was different

Advice

Be willing to learn, even if a given industry or company isn't the most interesting to you! You will get more out of your experience if you are engaged and ask lots of questions.
