I would say that this experience really taught me not to judge people by their cover or let first impressions cloud my judgment. Many individuals with intellectual disabilities are very successful and have the potential to be successful. Many can be independent and while others require help, this does not mean they are lesser people. They all have vibrant and unique personalities, and I adored many of my clients.
