The pay was alright, the work environment and my coworkers were very friendly.
What I wish was different
Sometimes felt disorganized, like they didn't have anything actually helpful for me to work on, almost like they hadn't really planned on having an intern.
Advice
Ask for what you want. If you want to do fieldwork, ask for it. If you want to know how other departments work, ask about them.

What I liked
Decent pay for an entry level job, not terribly physically intensive, great coworkers. Very regular hours with 3 day weekends.
What I wish was different
My only complaint is that work starts at 3am, but that also means you avoid most summer heat.
Advice
Find a good sleep schedule, you'll feel a lot better working here.

What I liked
I like the work environment.
What I wish was different
I wish I got more experience in traffic engineering side of things.
Advice
Try to have a good understanding of what to expect from and internship. Try to take control of your intership to get the most out of it.

ACHD Paint Crew Laborer
May - August 2018 • Garden City, ID
What I liked
The hours were stable, but sometimes overtime was offered for those who wished for more. The people I worked with were great and easygoing, and I couldn't complain about a 3-day weekend.
What I wish was different
At a certain point in the summer, the hours start at 3am, which you can never really get used to. However, that is much better than working later in the hottest part of the day.
Advice
Safety is important in a job like this, as you will be working out in traffic. Otherwise, don't take yourself too seriously, do the work you're supposed to do and you'll fit in just fine.
