What I liked
What I liked about my job experience was the environment. The environment was lively, accepting, patient, and genuinely enjoyable. The manager always made sure and reminded my fellow colleagues and I that it is important to have fun while we are on the job so we can enjoy ourselves and our experiences interacting with other people. This was also important since we mainly worked with young children since the retail store was focused on kids' clothing and we have to be really energetic. I loved this environment and this job.
In other jobs, people can sometimes be judgmental and exert an aggressive energy towards others. I have been in environments at previous positions where people were not all that nice to each other and it affected me and my viewpoint on the job I had at hand. I believed that it was normal for people to dislike their job and have a negative attitude with it, but it all changed when I joined my Abercrombie & Fitch family. The employees were people that I could relate to and everyone is very nice with each other and accepting. We all enjoy each other's company and sharing laughs and moments with each other, which we also share with the customers and their families.
Because my new position changed my attitude toward my work, I do not plan on leaving or changing summer jobs any time soon. I believe it is important for one to work in a place where they feel welcomed and where they know how to have fun and be professional simultaneously. I feel very grateful and lucky that I got the opportunity to work this new position and it opened my eyes in terms of what it should feel like when you have a job that has a healthy environment for everyone in it.
