What I liked

Diverse array of projects. Lots of freedom to try new things, research on your own time. Great team, great people, great atmosphere!

What I wish was different

My experience was remote but I was able to go into the office a couple of times. In-person would’ve made it easier to communicate with team and other departments.

Advice

Try new things, they like initiative. Don’t be afraid to reach out to them if you’re confused on something, they’re there for you and want to help you grow!

CSA Consultant Co-Op

May - December 2019 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

I have never learned more than I did at 84.51°. They treated me like a full-time employee and gave me real, impactful projects to work on. My data-based recommendations influenced real decisions at Kroger, and I can physically see my impact in-store. It wasn't always easy, but it was extremely fulfilling!

What I wish was different

There were times that I was given too much responsibility/work. This negatively impacted the first few weeks of my experience but, after speaking with my manager, things became much better/more sustainable. They worked very hard to make sure that I wasn't in a bad or "less than ideal" situation again.

Advice

Get ready to work... hard! The projects here are no joke, but if you care and do your best - you will learn a lot and have a blast! Also - always be receptive to feedback and continuous learning! Those are core values at 84.51°.

Campaign Management Co-op

May 2019 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

I could not have gotten a better co-op. Everyone I meet here tells me that it does not get better than this, and I think they are right. I love how progressive 84.51 is, and I have been treated like a full time employee. I love knowing that I have real world experience that I can carry with me once I leave college. My coworkers make me feel valued and are willing to help with anything I ask.

What I wish was different

Since I have had continuous co ops, I wish we were given a break between each. However, I know this would be difficult to achieve given the type of work campaign managers have.

Advice

To make as many connections as possible. I have met so many different people throughout the company that are so willing to help with anything I need. If you are interested in a certain position, ask.

Consultant

May - August 2018 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

The work was challenging/rewarding throughout the entire 10-week internship. Interns are assigned an actual project from the company, not a training project or side work. The project authenticity allows you to quickly integrate and start learning about the company very quickly. Plus, the people are great! A great environment to work in.

Advice

Especially at a firm with large amounts of data, it's easy to silo yourself in a team or stay working by yourself at your desk. Advice: connect with your co-workers from all departments, to gain a unique perspective on your project and understand the business case, the analytic case, and the underlying data that's going to make your project succeed. Also, having a sharp background in statistics is very helpful.
