Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Portland, OR

What I liked

A lot of incredible hands-on experience that taught me more than I anticipated. I had the unique opportunity to network with important people at this company and learn more about how a Fortune 50 company that has been around for over a century operates.

What I wish was different

The job description was not super clear, so I didn't really have a clear picture of what I was getting myself into when I started.

Advice

This internship taught me many things. One of those things is I learned what I didn't want to do. At first, I was disappointed by this, but then I learned that knowing what you DON'T want to do is just as important as knowing what you DO want to do. Taking risks and trying something out through an internship is a great way to get exposure to different kinds of work, roles, and industries, and learn even more about what is a good fit for you.

I wish I could have met even more people all across my zone.

Advice

It’s only ten weeks so don’t procrastinate. Take every opportunity that comes your way!

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2018 • Durham, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed working for a Fortune 50 company and learning about the different products and the distribution channels

What I wish was different

One thing that I wish would have been different about the internship would be the duration. I thought that the 10 week internship with an assigned project needed to be longer. The first 4 weeks of my internship I was still learning about the products, how they distribute them, and the marketing behind them. With a few more weeks I feel that I would have not been as rushed. Overall it was still an amazing internship!

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share about my experience is to be confident in yourself and always say yes to any opportunity that arises. The confidence will help you when you are selling in product into stores and overall help you create lasting relationships with your stores and your front-line employees.
