A typical day for an Intelligence Officer can vary widely depending on the mission that the Officer is supporting. A typical day in a fighter squadron will differ from a typical day in an intelligence squadron that focuses on collection. Although the missions will vary, the common thread between them all is critical thinking and analysis. On a typical day, an Intelligence Officer will read current reporting and other relevant threat information to understand a specific problem set, analyze it, and then understand it well enough that he or she can communicate it with ease. More importantly, however, is that an Officer is responsible for people and must first know how to lead and manage people before knowing how to turn information into actionable intelligence. An Officer's typical day involves reading and responding to important emails, coordinating with other personnel, squadrons, and agencies to accomplish different objectives, and looking out for the welfare of the people under his or her command.
