Former Adjunct Professor at University of Arkansas at Little Rock
over 2 years ago
As an adjunct, you have a flexible schedule. I spent my mornings preparing for a day of classes. If I was teaching a lecture course, I would review my material for the day's presentation the morning of my class, including preparing any activities for the day. Some weeks may be more work than others, such as weeks when you are grading tests or projects, while others may be more of an in-person commitment to your students. I offered office hours to my students and spent at least an hour working in my classroom before or after class so that I could be approachable and accessible to my students. I spend most days responding to lots of student and department emails, as well.
