To succeed at IBM, one must always try to be proactive in the task they do. One must understand that every individual is hardworking person at IBM. You must find out what makes you stand out. If you are given Task A, you must be proactive to ask for task B.

Be able to establish great relationships with your clients. In the end of the day, this is a business and clients will keep IBM around if they like the consultants that are on the projects. Execs ultimately want people that can get clients to continue to sign extended contracts because they love their consultants.
I worked at IBM as a part time, supplemental employee from 1986 - 1989, and was then hired as regular employee in 1989. As I understood it back then, going from a supplemental employee to a regular employee didn't happen that often. While I was thankful for the opportunity to be introduced to computer graphics, I'd like to think that my hard work, God-given talent, devotion to the job, company and customers (in my case, they were internal customers) served me well.
Be comfortable working on a computer, the better you are at knowing how to navigate your computer and programs(mainly Excel) the better you will be at your job since everything you will do will be done on a computer. Proficient typing speed Organization is key – Keeping your files/email on your computer organized to be more efficient. Example: If you get 30 to 40 emails a day are you organized enough to know which have been responded to and which you are still working on? Comfortable talking on the phone or in person, not only electronically Don’t give up – always keep working at it to improve or understand the difficult topics in your role. You might night get it the first week or two but with time you should be able to understand anything. Meet all deadlines – if you know you will miss a deadline communicate the issue which allows you to get help from your team lead/manager, do not show up to a big deadline and have nothing done
I’d say think working much to a contest on yours ingenuity whilst a conformist therough what’s tis already there. Makes ones truly show in the performance, ultimately the final product. The amount of effort put into what’s done is a feat of an effort and make sure to enjoy your peak self at.
Success at IBM requires a willingness to learn and desire to exceed expectations. The roles of a consultant can range from project management to proposal writing, and each manager will expect these tasks to be completed in a specific way. The ability to thrive under different leadership styles is critical.
