Research Assistant, Professor Ellison at Massachusetts Institute of Technology

To prepare for an interview to work as a research assistant (for any professor or research job), it is important to understand the research interests of the professor as well as the various steps and processes involved in that research. It is important to read several papers that professor has worked on in the past, and skim several additional abstracts. Make sure you understand what that professor researchers as well as the general methodology that professor uses. It is okay not to know everything or understand. If you did, you would already be a professor! You are expected to learn as you go.
