Admissions Counselor at Wentworth Institute of Technology

Psychology helped me immensely in this role. At the end of the day, admissions is marketing and sales. You are trying to get people to trust that you're knowledgeable about the school, and to gently persuade them to consider applying and enrolling. The ability to read people, listen to people, and communicate succinctly is immeasurably important. This ability to really gain others trust in mere minutes has helped me to move up at Wentworth and within admissions. Psychology teaches you more about people's learning and the way humans interact and certainly puts you at an advantage in any field where you are required to collaborate and work directly with others.
