Many applicants have various skills that can make them a strong candidate. One of my best skills was owning and understanding Excel and having my Microsoft Excel Certification. The reason why I put “owning and understanding” Excel first is because nowadays many people get their certification in Excel, and from my perspective it is not hard to get. There is a difference between getting it and understanding Excel to the best you can. For my role in particular, Excel something I was working with 24/7 during my internship and will continue working with once I begin my full time position in July. However, this all depends on the role you take on (Excel is ALWAYS) a plus. Also, one key skill is network. Talk to your colleagues, managers, etc. to get to know them on work level; do not be shy! Contribute during meetings. It is huge when a new person is contributing and making efforts.
