Being a Public Policy Major I learned a lot about the policy process and everything that goes into creating policy. Also, I got to take a breadth of classes that allowed me to gain knowledge and experience in many different areas like sociology and economics. But the most important thing that I learned as a policy major is how to be a facilitator, how to take information (stats, data, etc) and help someone turn it into something that can be used to benefit a group of people. As a PCV, we are supposed to be facilitators and we are to help our counterparts implement the Peace Corps project into the community. Many times we need support from the local government so my some of my main duties have been helping my counterpart take statistics about diseases and turn it into a proposal for a project to prevent the diseases.
