Typically, you will be assigned to a certain grade level or group of students that you will be expected to work with. At the beginning of the year, special education staff work with the classroom teachers to make a schedule that enables you to either sit in class with or pull out the students that are on your caseload, depending on their needs. Some of these students need support in just one subject, some of them in more than one. Once you get your caseload of students, you will work with the special education staff and the classroom teacher to figure out the best way to support your students. Once you have this schedule planned, this is your plan for the day every day. Some students will need to be pulled out for tests and quizzes or MCAS, and that will be planned ahead of time.
