When I was assigned to a social-emotional focus classroom, I would start my day by going straight to that classroom and assisting the SpED teacher with preparations for the day. I would then welcome students as they arrived at school, and help them with their work. If students needed a regulation break, I would take them outside to play football. I had a walkie talkie on me at all times. I would monitor students during lunch and recess. While I was on break, I would have my walkie talkie handy in case I was needed. If a student became aggressive or violent I sometimes was needed to make quick decisions to keep that students and others safe. Sometimes I needed to physically restrain a student to keep them safe, I used my training that was given to me through PPS. At the end of the day I would make sure students got on the bus. Everyday I made sure to stay positive and be a good example of what it means to be respectful and calm.
