Former Political Affairs Intern at The Borgen Project
about 2 years ago
The average day for a political affairs intern is based on list of assignments given at the beginning of the internship. Tasks are to be completed by the end of the week and submitted to your manager. On an average day I would call constituents, work on the fundraising project, call or email my senators, and try to schedule or attend meetings that I set up.
I was a Writer Intern with the Borgen Project from August - December 2013. Back then, interns were required to write four cited, AP-style articles on poverty-related topics per week (now, I think the requirement is one article per week). Topics were compiled by Borgen Project staff and the interns selected topics that they were interested in. The role allowed for a lot of autonomy in writing articles, but at the same time, editors were available for help and provided support when needed.
