Former Political Affairs Intern at The Borgen Project

Focus on an interest in social justice as it relates to an international context. Since the organization devotes itself to ending world poverty, the level of empathy and passion for wanting to help others has an utmost importance. Just describing your connection to international students, if you are not one, is a boon.

Content Team Lead Editor position at The Borgen Project

I would highlight any writing or editing experience you have as well as relevant experience you’ve gained through classes or extracurriculars. Furthermore, do your research and know as much as possible about the organization before the interview; read up on The Borgen Project’s work and take a look at its blog and online magazine. I will say that the organization doesn’t usually hire from without, so before you apply for an editor position, I recommend going through The Borgen Project’s internship program. There are both writing and editing internships available to students. I went through the editing internship and impressed my managers, so I was hired on as a Content Team Lead Editor afterward.
