It's very exciting. As a mathematician with the NSA, you have the opportunity to work in research-oriented offices, operations-oriented offices, or even more consulting-like positions. The problems are usually interesting to work on, and you have the opportunity to work across many different disciplines, often alongside people with backgrounds in computer science, electrical engineering, linguistics, etc.
