My major prepared me very well. Juries; which is like a music major’s final exam, is almost the perfect example of an audition experience. We’re required to have a number of musical pieces memorized. We must go in confident, present ourselves and our best piece, but be prepared for the panel to ask us to perform any of the other piece in our portfolio. And just like in an audition or interview they ask us questions about any and or all our pieces, and sometimes they ask questions that generally have to do with our field of study but non of our pieces; the out of left field questions. This, while nerve racking, is very helpful. Life is unpredictable, people are unpredictable, we have to be prepared for anything and to work well under pressure.
