Former Financial Center Client Service Representative I at Bank of America Merrill Lynch

A Financial Center Client Service Representative I is known as a bank teller. To succeed as a teller, you will need to have strong cash handling skills to count and handle large amounts of money. You will need to have customer service skills, as well as effective communication skills. As a teller, you will are responsible for greeting and assisting customers. You will need to be friendly, personable and helpful. Sales experience would help. You will have goals that you will have to meet by cross-selling products to the customers.
The position was a healthy balance between customer service and attention to detail. Customer service is obvious, make sure customer enjoys their experience. But the attention to detail portion would be the stressful part of your day. Without exaggerating, you basically just have to make sure your drawer balanced at the end of the day. For our branch at Wells Fargo that meant handling above $100,000 a day and balancing that to within a $10 margin of error. You can imagine that was mostly due to the businesses that banked with us, so consider location. The upside was that business would bring us their products (donuts, cookies, hot sauce) and this made for a great way to build relationships.
