In order to be a Property and Casualty producer you have to have:
1) The ability to get and maintain a P&C license for each of the states that GEICO’s regional offices service e.g., I worked in their NE office and was required to have licenses for each of the 7 states the office handled. Eligibility for an insurance license requires a fairly clean credit record and no criminal history beyond traffic tickets that didn’t involve drug or substance abuse.
2) The ability and willingness to SELL. An insurance producer is a sales person and you will not be successful in the position if you’re not comfortable with asking people to buy an insurance policy. It isn’t customer service, it’s all about converting inquiries into policies and conversion/productivity figures heavily in employee evaluations.
