As an undergrad, my compensation was $35/hour for the first 8 hours, 1.5x for hours 8-12 and then 2x for 12+ hours per day. The base pay could be a little higher too. Once you’re all settled in you can expect to work about 10 hours per day. If you’re shipping a product soon or at the peaks of your dev cycle, you might end up staying overnight to work. I know Product Design interns who consistently worked for 12+ hours a day. Other teams are a lot more relaxed and you might just do the usual 9-5 work schedule so it really depends.

I was paid 15/hr for a part time specialist. It fluctuates a little for each person but overall it’s a pretty great pay for a part time job! I will also warn you that you will be expected to work about 5 days a week and definitely every weekend. It will definitely interfere with your work/life balance. So if you’re okay with not being around much for friends or group projects in school, go for it! But if you are going to have FOMO, definitely take more consideration. I don’t want to scare you, just being honest so you know what to expect!
