We always said in KPMG that the auditor is a very good accountant. The most important thing is to always be up to date in relation to accounting and auditing; you have to posses the most recent knowledge in either IFRS or GAAP or both. Pursuing a degree is always a huge advantage in KPMG or any of the big four. CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA...etc are all very important certificates to gain before and while working for KPMG, all big four recognize those certificates very well and they know their importance. The last and very important thing is leadership communication -- a Senior Auditor is a liaison between audit manager and the client and is usually the team leader on field. When you take control of the audit engagement and deliver the right information between the client and the audit managers and partners, then you know you're a successful Senior Auditor.
