The culture at Kroger is a very positive one. They make sure that they put the patient first in all areas, and they are generally well staffed to allow for a good working environment. The focus is not so much on making money (after all, the grocery store itself is the primary money-maker...the pharmacy is there for convenience), so corporate is not constantly forcing you to do more and more with less. The company is structured well, and every pharmacist that I have worked with has been great at their job, as well as willing to teach me anything I wanted to know as an intern.
I really loved my store but I think it really depends on the pharmacist and the people at the store. The pharmacy staff at my store is really a family and will have a big Christmas party, exchange Christmas presents, and buys birthday cake for everyone's birthday. There has been a lot of changes within the Kroger system in my last year of working and there are some unhappy individuals with the decisions that the Kroger Company has made. I do not think that it is something that I could have control but do note that Kroger have gotten more strict about how often interns have to work in order to keep status in the system.
