Research Assistant at North Carolina State University

I think that my major prepared me well by allowing for me to explore different pathways-- which is how I ended up at NCSU in a soil chemistry lab. In the environmental sustainability major, I was able to take courses in which the professors encouraged my involvement within projects that were of interest to me. For example, even though Meredith did not offer specific soil and water courses, the courses within my major allowed for me to do and present my own soil/water research. This, combined with the in depth scientific knowledge provided by my professors, helped with my transition to working in research at NC State.
Additionally, since the environmental sustainability major heavily emphasizes on interdisciplinary coursework, I learned how to communicate and communicate well. The ability to communicate encouraged me to apply to jobs, such as the one at NC State, and maintain strong professional relationships with my employers and colleagues.
