It’s a long day! Depending on your position within the firm, start time could be anywhere from 5am (trading) to 8:30am (banking / legal / compliance). You will spend a lot of time sitting at your desk working on projects on your desktop computer. “Catchups,” or coffee / lunch with other interns or colleagues are highly encouraged, and usually happen around lunch time for 30 minutes to an hour. Interspersed will be meetings with other members of your team, in addition to the numerous intern events which take up 1-3 hours almost every weekday. You will likely get home anywhere between 9pm-2am (sorry, bankers!).

I typically arrive at the office at 7:30 am. I will then check emails. There are lots of them because other offices like Hong Kong and London will leave a lots of messages when I am not at the office. Sometimes I will have team meetings in the morning to catch up with other members in the team and report to the manager. Then I will have an eye on the trading activities and support traders. We are really busy during the morning after the market open. After lunch, I will get some times to work on my projects. There are also some coffee chats with people at other desks in the firm. Coffee chat is huge in Goldman. Everyone is ready to talk about his/her work, coach you and build a connection. Sometimes, in the afternoon we will use that time to talk to the coworkers in London office about each other's work and discuss the issue communicated in the morning emails. I typically left the office after 6:30pm.
