What I disliked about being a seasonal associate was my first day on the floor. I received hands on training with just the cash register and informative videos, but was not given the opportunity to shadow a current employee to observe daily activities. I felt overwhelmed as customers asked me for assistance on concepts that I was still in the process of retaining from training.
What I liked about this position was receiving help from other employees - those who were full time workers and those who were seasonal. After a few days I got the hang of things as coworkers would check up on my actions (such as telling me how to run credit card and check payments, running up items, etc). In general, being a seasonal hire is a good start to experience retail.
