Former Global Asset Management Jr Exec. at Barclays Wealth Management

I enjoyed getting to learn about portfolios and asset allocation which was a very key part of the business. I did not like (particularly after I became proficient in my role) - that I was just working on a very select part of the business and I wanted to learn about the business as a whole so I moved to relationship management where I had to train and learn all aspects of the business.
I liked getting to know the clients' businesses and growing expertise in certain areas eg I am now heading manufacturing sector under corporate banking so I attend conferences, ave partnerships with manufacturing trade associations and this allows me to grow my name in the industry as a corporate finance specialist for the Manufacturing industry. Obviously, closing a deal with a corporate takes a lot of time and negotiations (even half a year) and this means you need a pipeline of deals closing in order to make sure your performance meets your targets. So targets are what I really dislike.
