A Relationship Manager in Barclays Bank is the main point of contact between the Bank and the client. A relationship manager can be a premier relationship manager, who deals with high value personal clients with a certain net value/income/assets under management. They can also be a Corporate/Business Banking/SME relationship manager in which case they deal with companies based on size i.e Corporates are large-sized, Business is medium sized and SME is small sized companies. In my case I was both a premier and corporate relationship manager. In any case, the work involves meeting targets in terms of sales of loans, deposits under management, revenue streams eg commissions. Sales are from a portfolio of clients that you handle. Mostly you have to grow the portfolio by bringing in new clients. Another large part is actual relationship management where you deepen your relationship and ensure the client comes to your bank first if they ave a need. This then builds your sales.
