If you want to succeed at Fidelity, you should be looking to more than what you are assigned. If you have free time, which you will as a fund accountant, fill it with learning other tasks that your team does or by looking to improve processes. More broadly, look to network with higher ups like directors and vp's. There is definitely opportunity to do and if you can show interest and ambition, they will think of you when crafting special projects teams which will look good on your resume when you look to transfer within the company. Be aware that within the fund accounting department, there is very limited mobility. You will likely reach senior and then eventually lead after a few years (2-4) but then it is very scarce to reach manager and virtually impossible to move up from there. As an example, I had a manager who had been in the same managerial position for 15 years.
