I liked how well organized the internship program was at P&G: all the interns, regardless of which team they were working in, had a two day onboarding workshop, where we were exposed to the core business streams and what makes the organization stay at the forefront of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) business. There were business activities and projects that cross functional teams had to do, which were fun and interesting. I didn't like the extremely long working hours I had to put in - I had little work life balance during my internship. In hindsight, I wish I had more support from the plant staff in project delivery and execution.
I loved being a Purchasing Intern! It wasn’t what I was expecting at all, there are many amazing people and the work is very strategic and exciting. You are part of a multi-functional team where your role is to bring the outside in, connecting P&G to the rest of the industry you are buying for. Every space is unique and you learn every day. I loved how open ended the problems were and how great the people are! You really are given the authority to make a difference, and that is how you are evaluated. Sometimes, it can be unclear with what you are expected to deliver or what good results look like, which can be a strange transition coming from school. Overall, I had a great experience and am celebrating a year as a full-time Purchasing Manager 😊
