As a Lead Software Test Engineer I have a pretty large amount of ownership over the work that I do. A typical Lead Test Engineer at TR focuses on planning and coordinating testing for a team as well as providing direction to other test engineers on what and how to test new features. You are also expected to work closely with new product development partners to ensure requirements are accurate and all use-cases are explored and understood. As for my specific role, I am the Quality Lead on a new product called Westlaw Edge which just released this summer. I am focused on coordinating and managing testing efforts across multiple teams and organizations to ensure quality for the new product. I am responsible for working with test leads and testers from all groups as well as team leads and business partners to address general/standard testing practices and processes as well as be a main contact for issues that may arise before, during, and after development. I have a decent amount of freedom as to how I go about accomplishing my goals and in general am not just being handed work to do.
