Former Software Engineering Intern at Thomson Reuters
about 2 years ago
The team I was involved with at Thomson Reuters was relatively new, relative to all of the other work going on in Tax and Accounting, Legal, and Financial and Risk business units. The team, called the Cloud Center of Excellence, on boarded me with an internally built and structured set of training documents for gaining familiarity and orientation with working in the cloud provided by Amazon web services. They were essentially 'labs' that gave me a few tasks that are basic in terms of cloud computing, but fundamental in the sense that anyone developing and deploying applications in the cloud will benefit from the knowledge. Everything was hands on and it's very easy to get some experience working in the cloud. Everyone, from junior to senior engineers, had something to share and tended to posses baseline knowledge in their expertise, or knew someone who they could direct me to in order to answer my questions.
