As far as work-life balance for a Management & Sales Intern, I had to make a conscious effort to keep work and life balanced. Because we had a lot of responsibilities when we were in the store, it was easy to push the project research to after my shifts would end. I had to talk to my store manager about delegating time out of each shift to work on the project to make sure I wasn't bringing it home every single day. As far as work-life balance for a Sales Associate, I do not bring work home - it is easy to find a balance in your life!
There is okay work life balance, but it really depends on your coworkers and manager. I pick up a lot of hours, because my coworkers don’t want to work sometimes and take days off. If you schedule time off 2-3 weeks ahead you should get it. You also receive 40 vacation hours a year. If you work on holidays you get time and a half plus 4 hours for free. Even if you don’t work on holidays you get some holiday pay. Also, take advantage of the 401k match. Most part timers don’t take advantage of this, but set your pay to 6% 401k contributions. You basically earn free money.
