I cannot speak on this experience first without informing you about the culture of the company. Culture has shaped, helped, guided, and inspired me throughout my internship experience. Before doing my own personal research about the company, I grasped that culture was the company’s backbone. It was not until orientation day, down to my last day when I witnessed first-hand the various ways in which culture has come to life. Culture is one channel behind how employees approach hot topics, briefs, decks, planning and more within the agency. Initiative use’s culture to connect its clients request to the consumers they plan to target. Now, you might ask yourself, how is that done? From my observations through employee research, various communication services, and teamwork, the company works alongside their clients, partners, and consumers to deliver results.
The culture of the office is just as exciting as the company itself. I had the pleasure of being a part of the Academy Sports & Outdoors account, as a digital partnership and comms design resident. The environment at Initiative is fun, fast-paced, friendly, and everyone is always eager to help, literally. Every day there was something new to be learned, and there was never a day at Initiative that I felt that I could not turn to someone on my team for help. My advice to future residents would be to listen greatly, take notes on everything, research, learn the terminology, engage, have fun and ask as many questions you can. In addition, I was able to contribute to my team by being proactive in meetings, researching, and observing.
